BNP distributing money to grab state-power: Menon

DHAKA, Dec 26, 2018 (BSS) – Workers Party of Bangladesh President and the Awami League-led grand alliance nominee for Dhaka-8 constituency Rashed Khan Menon today turned down coming out successful of the BNP’s ill-design using money-power, saying the party would not be able to grab state-power by distributing crores of money.

“BNP in the meantime distributed Taka 150 crore in Dhaka and all over the country ahead of the December 30 polls . . . A large amount of money is being sent here from abroad only to purchase voters and resort to destructive acts,” he said while speaking at an election campaign gathering at Motijheel Shapla Chattar here.

Menon, also civil and aviation and tourism minister, was very critical of BNP-Jamaat regime saying, “People didn’t forget the misrule of BNP as their regime came out champion in corruption. People even could not come out from their houses in fear of snatchers and extortionists.”

He added that BNP distorted the real history of the 1971 War of Liberation and made the identified war criminals ministers in disregard to the martyrs.

Highlighting the election manifesto of Awami League, the minister assured electorates of making Dhaka-8 constituency a free-Wi-Fi zone, creating new playgrounds for youths and also conducive environment for the businesses of the young entrepreneurs.

He urged all to cast their votes for “Boat”, election symbol of Awami League, to continue the ongoing development trend of the country.
