BHOLA, Dec 23, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said none would be able to resist the defeat of BNP in the parliamentary election slated for December 30.

“They (BNP) will be certainly defeated in the polls. AL will form the government with two-third seats in parliament as a mass upsurge has been created in favour of ‘boat’ across the country,” he said, addressing a street rally at Shantir Hat Bazar here.

If BNP is voted to power, the country will be plagued with terrorism and anarchy, Tofail said, adding that if AL is voted to power, the country will witness development and it will be free from militancy and drug abuse.

Terming Dr Kamal Hossain ‘a hired leader’, he said “BNP Chairperson (Khaleda Zia) has been jailed for corruption. Her son Tarique Rahman has been sentenced for life in the 21 August grenade attack case. They have no leader. They have hired Dr Kamal Hossain”.

So, voting for BNP will yield no benefit, he added.

Referring to BNP’s sabotages carried out after 2001 parliamentary elections, the AL leader said BNP created a reign of oppression and looting during their regime. So, the people don’t like them (BNP) now, he added.

Highlighting different development activities implemented in Bhola during the present government, Tofail said initiatives have been taken to construct Bhola-Barishal Bridge as per the people’s demand.

Shibpur Union unit AL Vice-President Abdul Gafur presided over the rally, which was also addressed by Bhola district unit AL General Secretary Abdul Mumin Tulu and Organizing Secretary Mainul Hossain Biplob, Sadar Upazila unit AL President Md Mosharef Hossain and Sadar Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Md Younus, among others.

Tofail Ahmed also joined electioneering at Ratanpur Bazar and Chaultatuli area of the Shibpur Union and addressed two separate streets rallies there.
