Integrated efforts stressed to promote education for char children

GAIBANDHA, DEC 19, 2018 (BSS) – Speakers at a function here today
underscored the need for promoting the education among the hard to reach char
children to take the backward kids ahead and help build an enlightened
nation.

“In this context, the teachers, the education officials and the chairmen
of the school managing committee of the char schools should be more cordial
and punctual to ensure teaching properly to the students to make them worthy
citizens of the country”, they said.

They made the comments while addressing a seminar on Context of Char
Education: Challenges and Way Forward organized by a reputed national NGO
Friendship at its training centre at Madnerpara under Fulchhari upazila in
the district on Wednesday with the financial support of ERISK Development
Partner and Friendship Luxemburg.

District education officer Enayet Hossain addressed the seminar as the
chief guest and district primary education officer Hossain Ali was present as
the special guest while vice principal of Gaibandha Govt. Mohila College
Shamsul Haque participated in the function as a guest of honor.

Brigadier General (Retired) Ilyas Iftekhar Rasul, director and head of
education of Friendship, in the chair, the seminar was also addressed among
others by acting general secretary of Gaibandha Press Club Sarker
M.Shahiduzzaman, district correspondent of the daily Manab Kantha ABM Abdus
Sattar, social worker Ashraful Alam and chairman of SMC Mohsin Ali.

The speakers also put emphasis to ensure professional facilities including
remote allowance for the primary, high school and college teachers in hard to
reach char areas of the district so that the service providers could perform
their duties with enthusiasm and zeal.

Various problems and its recommendations were also adopted to run the
schools in the chars smoothly during the open discussion session.

Abdus Salam, regional coordinator of Friendship, told the BSS the
organization is conducting 13 primary schools, 03 secondary schools and 13
literacy centres in the chars of the district.
