Ensuring dignity, rights of overseas job-seekers stressed

RANGPUR, Dec 19, 2018 (BSS) – Officials here have stressed on ensuring
safer migration as well as rights, dignity and justice of overseas job-
seekers to enhance remittance inflow for further strengthening economy.

They expressed the views at a post-rally discussion jointly organised by
the district administration and District Employment and Human Resources
Office on Tuesday at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in
observance of the International Migrants Day-2018.

Earlier, a huge rally was brought out on the streets with the
participation of the government and NGO officials, returned expatriates,
relatives of expatriates, overseas job-seekers, students, teachers, civil
society members and local elites.

Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib addressed the discussion as the chief
guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Enamul Kabir in the
chair.

Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Maruf Hossain and Principal of
Rangpur Technical Training Centre Engineer Lutfar Rahman addressed as special
guests.

Assistant Director of District Employment and Manpower Officer Amena
Parveen delivered welcome speech.

She said the government has taken various effective steps to raise skill
and expertise of the overseas job-seekers through providing necessary
trainings and ensuring their safer migration, welfare, rights, dignity,
honour and justice both at home and abroad.

Engineer Lutfar Rahman discussed conditions under which Bangladeshi
expatriates are working abroad and extensively contributing to national
economy. He also mentioned the fact that some of them were being cheated both
at home and aboard.

The chief guest stressed on turning the huge population into skilled
human resources to ensure better wages abroad and discussed procedures to be
followed by overseas job-seekers to avoid cheating and harassment in the
migration process.

Later, he distributed prizes among winner students of different
competitions and crests among three highest remittance senders and their
relatives.
