RHD implements Taka 3,303.82-cr projects in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Dec 17, 2018 (BSS) – The Roads and Highway Department (RHD)
implemented various infrastructure development schemes involving around Taka
3,303.82 crore in last ten years till June last in Rajshahi division.

“We have implemented diversified works like construction, reconstruction,
development and maintenance of roads, highways and bridges in Rajshahi,
Naogaon, Chapainawabgonj, Pabna, Sirajgonj and Natore districts,” Additional
RHD Chief Engineer Habibur Rahman told BSS.

While being interview on Thursday he said a 51.626-kilometer road from
Kansat to Bholahat via Rohanpur has been reconstructed and widened in
Chapainawabgonj as another 12.50-kilometer Shaheed Monsur Ali road stretching
from Pipulbaria to Dhunat via Sonamukhi has been newly constructed in
Sirajgonj and Bogra districts.

With construction of 263-meter Badalgachhi and Mohadevpur bridges, 24.58-
kilometer road from Naogaon to Patnitala via Badalgachhi and 67.59-kilometer
road from Patnitala to Rohanpur via Shapahar has been developed in Naogaon
and Chapainawabgonj districts, he said.

In addition to implementation of district road development project, a
47.47-kilometer road from Godagari to Adda via Amnura, Nachole and Parbatipur
has been developed in Rajshahi and Naogaon districts, he added.

Rahman said: “Currently, We are implementing seven mega infrastructure
development projects involving around Taka 2,136.37 crore”. Implementation of
roads pavement widening project including the Natore town’s main road from
Harishpur bypass crossing to Banbelghoria bypass crossing is underway.

Besides development work of 74-km important regional highways to maintain
standard, and construction work of unfinished 19.5-km Naogaon-Atrai-Natore
highway is progressing fast.

Construction of 14 bridges and culverts on different regional and national
highways is progressing under periodic maintenance programme.

Apart from this, repairing and maintenance work on 152.892-km roads was
either completed or nearing completion under 13 packages of periodic
maintenance programme.

Roadside tree plantation activities are progressing successfully that will
ultimately help reduce carbon emission to a substantial level.

Rahman said that the implemented projects contribute enormously to raising
standard of living and the ongoing schemes will expedite the process upon
successful completion.
