BFUJ, DUJ to hold rally tomorrow to protest Dr Kamal’s remarks

DHAKA, Dec 16, 2018 (BSS)-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) will hold a rally tomorrow to protest what they said the indecent and objectionable remarks on journalists by Jatiya Oikya Front top leader Dr Kamal Hossain.

In a joint statement today, BFUJ President Mollah Jalal and its Secretary General Shaban Mahmud and DUJ President Abu Jafar Surjo and its General Secretary Sohel Haidar Chowdhury have requested all journalists to join the protest rally to be held in front of the National Press Club at 11am, said a media release.

On December 14, BFUJ and DUJ announced to hold two-day protest programmes if Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain not apologize publicly for his remarks on media workers.

DFUJ and DUJ leaders said Dr Kamal threatened reporters when he was asked to clarify his position on the Jamaat-e-Islami at a programme on Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14.

The journalist leaders said Dr Kamal misbehaved with media workers, stating “shut up (Khamosh).

They described the remarks of Dr Kamal with journalists as unacceptable.
