Dr Kamal must seek apology publicly

DHAKA, Dec 15, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) today said Jatiya Oikyafront Convener and Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain should beg apology publicly before the nation within 24 hours for his indecent and objectionable remarks on media workers.

In a joint statement, BFUJ President Mollah Jalal and its Secretary General Shaban Mahmud and DUJ President Abu Jafar Surjo and its General Secretary Sohel Haidar Chowdhury said Dr Kamal threatened reporters when he was asked about his to clarify his position on the Jamaat-e-Islami.

The journalist leaders said Dr Kamal misbehaved with media workers, stating “shut up ( Khamosh), which newspaper are you from? I will keep you in memory, how much money have you got to ask such questions … Who paid you?,”

They described the remarks of Dr Kamal with journalists as unacceptable and demanded seeking apology to the nation.

BFUJ and DUJ announced to hold a two-day protest programme on December 17 and 18.
