Martyred Intellectuals Day observed in Khulna
KHULNA, Dec 14, 2018 (BSS) – People from all walks of life here today
observed the Martyred Intellectuals Day paying rich tributes to the
intellectuals who were killed by the Pakistan occupation forces and their
local collaborators at the dawn of country’s Liberation War in 1971.
Leaders and activists of different political and socio-cultural
organisations, government, non-government organisations and educational
institutions placed wreaths at the pavement of martyred memorial in the city
in the early hours of the day.
The day’s programme began with paying tributes by Khulna Muktijoddha
Sangsad at 12:01 am.
Awami League, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC), BNP, Jatiya Party
(Ershad), JSD, CPB, Vice-Chancellors of Khulna University (KU), Khulna
University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Khulna District Council,
Khulna Divisional Commissioner, Khulna Press Club, Khulna Union of
Journalists (KUJ), Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum, among others, also paid homage
to the great sons of the country.
Khulna City and District units of Awami League (AL) organised a discussion
at the party office marking the day where lawmakers Begum Monnuzan Sufian,
Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Mizanur Rahman Mizan and administrator of Khulna
district council Sheikh-Harun-ur-Rashid and AL aspirant of Khulna-2
constituency Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, among others, addressed.
