3 killed falling off train in Ishwardi

ISHWARDI, Pabna, Dec 14, 2018 (BSS) – Three labourers were killed and five
others injured after being fallen off the roof of a running train in Hardinge
Bridge area at Ishwardi upazila of the district early today.

Police identified two of the deceased as Abdul Hakim, 16, and Rabiul Islam,
20, of Shibganj Upazila in Bogra district. But Identity of another could not
be known immediately.

“The accident took place at about 5:15 am as the Khulna-bound Chitra Train
carrying the victims reached Hardinge Bridge,” Md Bahauddin Faruqui, officer-
in-charge of Ishwardi Police Station, told BSS this morning.

The victims were travelling on the roof of the train and accidently got off
the roof, he said, adding “all of them were labourers and going to Khulna
from Bogra”.

Police said two people were killed falling from the train’s roof on Pakshi
side of the bridge while one was killed on Bheramara side in Kushtia.

Shahidul Islam, Inspector-in-charge of Pakshi Hardinge Bridge police camp,
said police recovered two bodies from the beneath of Hardinge Bridge this
morning.

The lawmen also recovered another victim named Shanta, 11, with serious
injuries and sent her to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile Kushtia Police Control Room duty officer Jahidul Islam said one
was killed and four others were injured after falling from train’s roof on
Bheramara side.

He said the injured were whisked off to different local hospitals fearing
the death toll may rise.
