Cultural personalities, actors join election campaign for AL

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2018 (BSS) – A number of leading cultural personalities, actors, litterateurs, former sportsmen and singers of the country today joined the election campaign for Awami League (AL) for the upcoming 11th parliamentary election.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader formally inaugurated the campaign under the initiative of the party publicity and publication sub-committee at a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar here this afternoon.

Actor Syad Hasan Imam, Architect Yeafesh Osman, Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Monoranjan Ghoshal, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Quddus, actors Raisul Islam Asad, Jahid Hasan, Mahfuj Ahmed, Shakil Khan and Saimon, actresses Shami Kaiser, Aruna Biswas, Rokeya Prachi, Nutan, Ajmeri Haque Badhan, Sweety and Tarin, national football team former player Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Chunnu, singer SD Rubel were present on the occasion, among others.

Speaking at the rally, Quader said “The wave for boat in the national election has also touched the cultural arena and that is why the cultural personalities have joined our election campaign”.

The AL general secretary said it would be proved in the polls that the people stay with honest, bold and wise leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It would also be proved that the people do not support communal force BNP-Jammat, he added.

Quader vowed that they will defeat the BNP-Jamaat evil forces in the election likewise they defeated the Pakistani occupational force in 1971 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The AL general secretary described BNP as a party of killers and corrupt people saying that the country became champion in corruption for five times during the BNP regime. Fugitive Tarique Rahman, who has awarded life-term imprisonment, is leading the party, he added.

Quader said politicians like Dr Kamal Hossain, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Sultan Mansur, Mostafa Mohsin Mantu and Quader Siddique are doing politics under Tarique Rahman.

After the rally, the cultural personalities and artistes took part in the election campaign riding in five large well-decorated trucks.

Liberation War time songs were played during the campaign while leaflets on different achievements and development works done by the government in the last 10 years were distributed.

The motorcade paraded TSC, Shahbagh, Bangla Motor, Farmgate and Manik Miah Avenue and ended at Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi.

They also sought vote for boat in the election to continue the country’s development trend.
