RAJSHAHI, Dec 13, 2018 (BSS) – Cross-sections of people including
professional leaders as well as alems-ulemas and other religious
personalities should forge social resistance against terrorism and militancy.

Students, teachers and cultural activists should also come forward and
work together to combat militancy. They also should raise their voice against
the crimes.

The observation came at the closing session of a three-day long training
workshop on terrorism and militancy prevention at Nezampur High School under
Nachole Upazila here yesterday.

Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-Economic Development Organization
(ASSEDO) organized the workshop in association with Countering Radicalisation
of Religious Ideologies through Edutainment and Youth Engagement project.
High Commission of Canada supported the programme.

Some 35 people including teachers and mosque imams joined the workshop.

Chaired by Headmaster of the school Jahir Uddin, the session was
addressed, among others, by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sabiha Sultana, Secondary
Education Officer Dulal Uddin Khan, ASSEDO Executive Director Rabiul Alam and
Programme Manager Ajahar Ali.

The speakers mentioned that Islam is a religion of peace. Islam never
supports terrorism and militancy like social crimes.

They mentioned when the country is marching forward under the leadership
of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina some conspirator circles are trying to make
an obstacle with an ulterior motive of lagging behind the country.

They urged the participants to disseminate their ideas and knowledge
acquired from the training to the public in general so that the crimes could
be eradicated from the society.
