DScE to launch bachelor’s degree on Entrepreneurship Economics

DHAKA, Dec 10, 2018 (BSS) – Dhaka School of Economics (DScE), a constituent
institution of the University of Dhaka, is going to introduce undergraduate
degree on Entrepreneurship Economics for the first time in the country.

DScE Governing Council Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad today in a
press conference at DScE said they have taken the move to develop skilled
human resources and entrepreneurs to generate more employment opportunities.

“Every year around 20-22 lakh new work force is entering to the job market,
but if new entrepreneurship is not developed it would be tough to secure jobs
for those new entrants,” he added.

Ahmad said DScE established in 2010 sets out vision to establish it as a
“Centre of Excellence” for advanced teaching and research in economics.

Currently the programmes being offered include — Master of Economics
(MEcon) in Entrepreneurship Economics, Master of Economics (Environmental
Economics) Programme, Master of Economics (Development Economics) Programme,
Post Graduate Diploma in Economics, Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise
Development, Bachelor of Economics (BEcon) in Environmental and Resource
Economics and Bachelor of Economics (BEcon) in Development.

Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad said DScE will establish Economic incubator
very soon.

Entrepreneurship educationist and financial and macro specialist Professor
Dr Muhammad Mahboob Ali said that to create employment opportunity and make
youths self reliant the school has taken massive plan to have a capacity
build up for Entrepreneurship programme offerings.

He argued that one of the main approaches of the school is to provide
better skill enhancement through entrepreneurial economics most efficiently
and effectively.

Among others, Dr Rezai Karim Khondker, Dr A K M Nazrul Islam and Dr
Narayan Chandra Sinha were also present.
