4 ethnic minority women get award in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Dec 10, 2018 (BSS)- Four ethnic minority women were awarded and
accorded reception as recognition to their laudable contribution to social
and education development field.

The awarded women are: Kostantina Hasda and Somiron Kisku for social
development, Kollyani Minji for education development and Dr. Borsha Jachinta
Soren for education and career development.

Rajshahi Divisional Ethnic Minority Cultural Academy (RDECA) accorded the
reception and hosted the award-giving ceremony at its conference hall in
Rajshahi Sunday to mark the Begum Rokeya Day- 2018.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division and Chairman of RDECA Nur-Ur-Rahman
attended and addressed the function as chief guest with Deputy Director of
Local Government and Director of RDECA Muhammad Salauddin in the chair.

Superintendent of Police Abdus Salam, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi
Metropolitan Police Joynal Abedeen and RDECA Executive Members Jogendranath
Soren and Kamilla Biswas, among others, spoke on the occasion.

The discussants underscored the need for ensuring social justice and
development of living and livelihood conditions of ethnic minority
communities in the country.

They urged to ensure the basic rights for the minority communities so that
they can get the scope of building themselves as social contributor and
actor.

They expressed the hope that the award-giving initiative would encourage
ethnic minority women to pursue their cherished goals.

The discussion session was followed by a cultural function performed by
the ethnic minority men and women.
