2,79,272 students get stipend from PM’s education trust
DHAKA, Dec 9, 2018 (BSS) – A total of 2,79,272 students of honours and
equivalent levels were awarded stipends from the Prime Minister’s Education
Assistance Trust.
Each student will get Taka 4,900 from the Prime Minister’s Education
Assistance Trust, this was revealed at the inaugural function of stipend
distribution in the conference room of the Education Ministry here, an
official release said.
Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division Md Sohrab Hossain
inaugurated the stipend distribution programme at the function.
Sohrab said selected students for the stipend can withdraw the money
through mobile banking of Dutch Bangla Bank in time for continuation of their
studies smoothly.

Zakir Hossain said nearly 3 lakh students get stipend from the education
assistance trust every year. The main objective of Prime Minister’s Education
Assistance Trust is to provide stipend to the poor and meritorious students,
he added.
As many as 7,46,192 students were given stipend amounting Taka 411. 16
crore between 2014 and 2017. Secretary of Technical and Madrasah Education
Division Md Alamgir and senior officials of the education ministry, among
others, were present at the function.
