Integrated efforts must for continuation of power sector progress: Towfiq

DHAKA, Dec 9, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, today said integrated efforts are needed to continue the current progress trend of the country’s power sector.

“Country’s power sector witnessed huge progress over the years and 92 percent people are getting electricity,” he told a workshop on “Integrated Master Plan in Power Sector Growth” in city’s Mukti Hall.

Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said, “We have to increase electric charging stations as the number of electric motor vehicles would be rising in the days to come.”

He said initiative has to be taken to introduce technology for resolving online power related problems and helping common people towards practicing of the technology.

Power Secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus said that electricity is an integral part of a developed Bangladesh.

The workshop held in five sessions including Power System Master Plan 2016, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Conservation Master Plan, Integration and Implementation Strategy of PSMP and Efficiency in Generation, Integration and Implementation Strategy of PSMP and Transmission and Integration and Implementation Strategy of PSMP and Efficiency in Distribution.

Among others, Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Abu Hena M Rahmatul Munim spoke in the workshop.
