Netrakona liberation day observed

Netrakona Dec 9, 2018 (BSS) – Netrakona liberation day was observed here
today commemorating the front-battle between Pakistani military forces and
freedom fighters which ended with hoisting of national flag atop of all
offices and buildings on December 9, 1971.

The people of Netrakona were liberated and their soil was freed from the
occupation of Pakistani military forces on the day following the “landslide
victory” of freedom fighters in the face-to-face war took place at Muktarpara
bridge area in the Netrakona town.

Netrakona district administration and different socio-cultural, political
and professional organisations including district Muktizoddha sangsad took
various programmes to mark the day.

The programme included placing of wreaths on the memorial monuments of
martyred freedom fighters and independence memorial monument here, bringing
out colorful rally in the district town, holding of discussion and musical
soiree based on patriotic songs.

The day’s programme formally started with placing of wreaths at the
independence memorial monument and graveyards of martyred freedom fighters in
Satpai area by deputy commissioner Netrakona Main-Ul-Islam.

A colorful rally was brought out in the district town from local public
hall premises under the auspices of the district administration and the rally
was ended there after parading the main roads of the town.

Local people from all walks of life including public representatives,
political leaders and freedom fighters joined the rally.

Deputy commissioner Netrakona Main-UL-Islam, police super Netrakona Joydeb
Chowdhury, renowned freedom fighter and general secretary of Awami League
Netrakona district unit Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, among others, attended the
rally.

A discussion “Netrakona liberation day” was also held at local public hall
marking the day.
