Entrepreneurship development is a must of bolstered economy: UGC Chairman

RAJSHAHI, Dec 8, 2018 (BSS)- University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan has said side by side with generating competent workers emphasis should be on developing entrepreneurship for a bolstered economy.

“We have to build honest and patriotic leadership for taking forward the nation successfully,” he further said while addressing the “5th Graduation Ceremony-2018” of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Rajshahi University (RU) here today as the chief guest.

Chaired by RU Vice-chancellor Professor Abdus Sobhan, the ceremony was addressed, among others, by UGC Member Prof Shah Nawaj Ali, RU Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Jakaria, Registrar Professor Abdul Bari and Treasurer Prof Mustafizur Rahman Al-Arif.

In the function, 434 students of executive MBA, MBA Evening, MBA Day and MBA for BBA graduates courses were given graduation. Twelve top-listed graduates were given gold medals and certificates.

Prof Mannan said the today’s Bangladesh is the 37th economy in the world and the country will capture the 26th position in 2041. Then our position will remain above of Australia and Malaysia.

He says the present government has been working relentlessly for elevating the nation to middle-income by 2021 and developed by 2041. “We need skilled human resources to supplement the government efforts of attaining the cherished goal,” he said adding that the IBA should play pivotal role In this regard.

Prof Mannan, however, attributed that the IBA contributes a lot towards overall development of the country through generating competent workforce in the present era of competitive economy.

In the present globalization era, he said there is no alternative to specialized education. This IBA meets up the gradually mounting demand of competent workforce for the business and trade sector as the centre of excellence.
