Public awareness to ensure peace, harmony stressed

RAJSHAHI, Jan 1, 2018 (BSS) – Speakers at a discussion here said emphasis should be given on creating public awareness for maintaining peace and social harmony everywhere in the society.

They said ensuring peace and social harmony is very important to take the nation forward. To this end, all the government and non-government organizations concerned should come forward and work together.

The observation came at the closing session of a three-day training course for the youths titled “Pluralism and Social Harmony” held at conference hall of Mougachhi Union Parishad (MUP) in Mohanpur upazila of the district on Sunday. A total of 36 youths joined the training.

Regional office of the Hunger Project Bangladesh organised the training in association with “Promoting Democratic Inclusion and Governance through Youth (PRODIGY)” project and British Council.

Upazila Chairman Prof Abdus Samad addressed the discussion as chief guest with MUP Chairman Al Amin Biswash in the chair. MUP Members Sufiya Khatun and Afsar Ali, PRODIGY Field Coordinator Subrata Kumar Paul, Programme Officers Joynal Abedeen and Masum Russel also spoke.

The discussants said the nation would get rid of conflicts and confusion if the people of the society as well as the state machineries take a positive approach to establish peace from their respective positions.

For the sake of building the nation as peaceful motherland, all of us should work together, they opined. Role of the young generation is very important in this regard.

Various issues like social peace and harmony, right to information for creating awareness, prevention of violence against women and quality improvement in primary education were discussed elaborately in the meeting.
