83.65 pc students pass JSC, JDC exams

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2017 (BSS) – The results of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) Examinations-2017 were published today with 83.65 percent pass rate.

A total of 20, 18,271 students out of 24,82,382 passed the JSC and JDC exams this year, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid announced the results at a press conference in his ministry.

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Md Sohrab Hossain, Secretary of Madrasah and Technical Education Board Md Alamgir and senior officials of the Education Ministry, among others, were present at the press conference.

While addressing the press conference, Nahid said, “We have attached priority to improving quality of education to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). We have introduced modern and effective answer paper evaluation system aiming to evaluate answer scrip in an accurate manner.”

The government is implementing various programmes to promote female education in the country.

Advancement of female education is a great achievement, which has been attributed to sincere efforts and strong commitment of the government, he added.

According to a result published here today, a total of 5,279 educational institutions achieved 100 percent pass rate in this year’s JSC and JDC examinations, while the number was 9,450 last year.

Of those, 529 institutions are from Dhaka, 1035 from Rajshahi, 61 from Comilla, 281 from Jessore,90 from Chittagong, 812 from Barisal, 171 from Sylhet, 580 from Dinajpur, while 1720 are under Madrasa Education Board.

A total of 3559 schools under eight general education boards achieved 100 percent pass rate in this year’s JSC examinations, while the number was 6,247 last year.

A total of 1,720 madrasas achieved 100 per cent pass rate in this year’s JDC examinations, while the number was 3,203 last year.

As many as 562 students of nine foreign centres have come out successful in the JSC examinations this year with 93.82 percent pass rate.

A total of 599 students from nine educational institutions appeared in the examinations this year. Among them, as many as 83 got GPA-5.

The female students have outnumbered their male counterpart in terms of number successful students in this year’s JSC and JDC examinations.

A total of 9,36,733 male students passed the examinations with 83.56 percent success rate this year while the number of successful female students is 10,81,538 with 83.73 percent pass rate.
