5 DU students get ‘Abdus Salam Trust Fund’ scholarships
DHAKA, Dec 2, 2018 (BSS) – Five students of the Mass Communication and Journalism department of Dhaka University (DU) today received ‘Editor Abdus Salam Trust Fund’ scholarships.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman handed over the award and scholarships among the recipients as the chief guest at a programme held at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium of Social Science Bhaban on the campus.
Besides, Bangladesh’s first female photojournalist Sayeda Khanam received ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for her contribution to the journalism.
DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin presided over the function while Chairman of the Mass Communication and Journalism department Prof Dr Kaberi Gayen spoke, among others.
Professor Kazi Abdul Mannan gave a memorial lecture on “Crumbling Creditability of Our Media: How to Restore”.
The recipients of the scholarships are Md Mahabubur Rahaman, Dipok Chandra Ray, Monir Uddin, Md Raihan Kabir and Md Chunnu Khan.
