Boro target on 1,28,040 hectares fixed in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, Nov 29, 2018 (BSS) – Agriculture Department has fixed a target
to cultivate Boro on 1,28,040 hectares of land with a production target
5,23,937 tonnes of rice in the district this current Robi season.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said Boro on
33,705 hectares of land with the production target 1,36,391 tonnes rice will
be cultivated in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila.

Besides, 19,098 hectares with a production target 75,243 tonnes in
Sarishabari, 20,365 hectares with a production target 84,938 tonnes in
Melandaha, 16,977 hectares with a production target 68,632 tonnes in
Islampur, 9,347 hectares with a production target 37,070 tonnes in Dewanganj,
17,466 hectares with a production target 69,602 tonnes in Madarganj and
12,514 hectares with a production target 53,074 tonnes in Bakshiganj were
also fixed.

The office said hybrid variety on 23,530 hectares, HYV on 104,877
hectares and local variety on 542 hectares will be cultivated.

Per hectare yield of hybrid rice was fixed 4.75 tonnes while HYV 3.92
tonnes and local 1.94 tonnes.

The office said Boro seed bed on 3,340 hectares of land was prepared
till this week against the target on 7,040 hectares.

Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation sources said 796 tonnes
Boro seed of eight varieties was allotted in Jamalpur district. The seeds are
