GAIBANDHA, Nov 27, 2018 (BSS)-Harvest of transplanted Aman (T-Aman) paddy
has been progressing in seven upazilas of the district.

Sources with Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said the department
set a target of bringing 1,19,649 hectares of land under T-Aman paddy
cultivation this year with an estimated yield of 3,14,712 tonnes of rice.

Taking advantage of favorable climatic condition, farmers of the district
this time cultivated the crop on 1,25,630 hectares, up by 5981 hectares

To make the cultivation programme a grand success, Bangladesh Agriculture
Development Corporation (BADC) timely distributed high quality Aman seeds to
the farmers at fair prices.

Besides, different state run commercial banks, including Rajshahi Krishi
Unnayan Bank, disbursed agri loans on easy terms to the poor and marginal
farmers to help them cultivate the crop, the sources said.

DAE Director AKM Ruhul Amin said about 24 percent harvest of the paddy has
already been completed till November 26.
