NGOs for transparency in Rohingya response planning

COX’S BAZAR, Nov 25, 2018 (BSS) – A number of NGOs and voluntary groups
today called for ensuring transparency in aid management for Rohingyas with
the participation of local NGOs in the response planning as they held a
dialogue with government officials concerned.

Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Abul Kalam attended the
dialogue as the chief guest. Cox’s Bazar NGO CSO Forum (CCNF) oranized the
event.

CCNF is a network of 42 national NGOs and community groups while the event
titled ‘”Rohingya Response and Grand Bargain Commitments: Aid Transparency
and Solidarity Approach” and supported by COAST and OXFAM was held at a hotel
in the tourist city.

Annika Sudland Senior Advisor and Baars Margo, advisor of ISCG (Inter
Sectoral Coordination Group), Anita Kattakuzhy of Oxfam International,
Mujibul Haque Munir of COAST and Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and Abu Murshed
Chowdhury took part in the dialogue.

Speakers at the event called for full public review and transparency in the
activities of Joint Response Planning (JRC) 2018 and other funds in future.

They also called for ensuring best possible human dignity of Rohingya
refugees until their safe repatriation to their motherland Rakhine state of
Myanmar.

Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mr Abul Kalam in his speech
said, “We can’t prepare an imaginary list of the necessity of the Rohingyas
or host community.”

“We have to ensure the bottom-up approach to bring the voice from the
grassroots to ensure transparent response planning for forcibility displaced
Rohingyas,” he said.
