Amu urges members of all religions to be united to face evil forces

DHAKA, Nov 22, 2018 (BSS)- Awami League Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu today urged the people irrespective of religions, and with firm belief in the spirit of the Liberation War and democracy to get united in rooting out communal evil forces and militancy.

“The Bangalee nation historically believes in the spirit of non-communalism. The independent Bangladesh is born through a bloody war with participation members of all religions including Muslim, Hindu, Bouddha and Christian under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he said, speaking at a religious function of Bouddha community at Dharmarajik Bouddha Moha Bihar in city’s Kamalapur.

Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prochar Shangha arranged the function ‘Kathin Chibar Dan (offering robes to the Buddhist monks), one of the biggest religious festivals of the Buddhist community, and National Buddhist Conference with Sanghanayak Shuddhananda Mohathero in the chair.

Bangladesh University Grant Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua, the Kathin Chibor Dan committee Chairman Professor Dr Uttam Kumar Barua and Committee Member Chotan Barua, among others, addressed the function.

Amu, also the industries minister, put emphasis on keeping up inter-religious dialogues to make the bond of social peace and communal harmony stronger.

He said Bangladesh is now a role model of communal harmony before the world. People of all religions are celebrating their own religious festivals independently, he added.

Later, a cultural function was held.
