Country celebrates Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi amid holy fervor

DHAKA, Nov 21, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh today celebrated the holy Eid-e-
Miladunnabi, marking the birth of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was
observed throughout the country and elsewhere today with due reverence and
religious fervour.

Tens of thousands of Muslims with banners of different spiritual and
social organizations like the Maizbhandar darbar and other spiritual hubs
joined colouful street marches in the capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the
country chanting praising the prophet for his role for the mankind.

On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Hazrat
Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and
messages of peace for mankind.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate
messages greeting the countrymen and Muslims across the globe coinciding with
the occasion and sought eternal blessing for the people’s welfare alongside
peace and harmony in the country and elsewhere in the world.

The day is a public holiday when the national flag was hoisted atop the
government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings and all the
armed forces installations across the country.

Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and private TV channels aired
special programmes while newspapers published special articles highlighting
the significance of the day.

Different social, cultural, religious, spiritual and political
organisations and different state-run organisations including the Islamic
Foundation chalked up elaborate programmes to mark the day.

The Islamic Foundation published a special supplement marking the day.

Various organisations at upazila level also held discussions, milad and
doa mahfils highlighting the life of the Prophet.

On this occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, special diets were provided to all
hospitals, prisons, old homes, government child welfare and different
rehabilitation centres.

Tight security arrangements were taken across the country to ensure a
peaceful celebration of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
