Ashequn Nabi joins as press minister at Bangladesh High Commission in
London

DHAKA, Nov 21, 2018 (BSS) – Md Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury, former chief
reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), joined today as the press
minister at the High Commission of Bangladesh in London, UK.

The government on July 25 appointed him to the post by issuing a
notification, saying that Chowdhury’s appointment will be effective for a
two-year term from the date of his joining.

A post-graduate in Bengali language and literature, Chowdhury also worked
for different media outlets in the past three decades. These include the
Bangladesh Observer (now defunct), the Financial Express, the New Age and the

Chowdhury was among the journalists who had been fired from BSS in 2001
during the regime of the BNP-Jamaat alliance. He along with other journalists
was reinstated following a High Court order after the Awami League returned
to power in 2009 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

During his long career, Chowdhury participated in many training programmes
and workshops. He also visited many countries including the USA, Canada, the
United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands,
Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China, South Korea and India for professional
purposes.

Fifty-five year old Chowdhury is married with Shamsun Naher Luna. Their
only child Mayesha Tashnil is now working in Canada after graduating in
chemical engineering from the University of Calgary.
