Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

DHAKA, Nov 20, 2018 (BSS) – Stocks witnessed upward trend on Tuesday as
major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising
with higher activities of some large-cap securities despite lower
transactions.

The major rising sectors were textile, insurance and food and allied.

A total of 131 large cap securities moved up on higher activities.

The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 41.73 points up
at 5,298.84. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed the same trend
with 6.67 points up at 1,221.17 and with 15.78 points up at 1,868.86
respectively.

The volume of shares decreased to 16.80 crore from Monday’s 17.62 crore
shares and the daily turnover in value at the DSE declined to Taka 717.15
crore from Monday’s Taka 803.06 crore.

At the DSE, price of 159 securities out of the day’s 323 closed higher
against 124 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were DSHGARME, KTL, Peoples Insurance, Reliance
Insurance and AMCL (Pran). The major losing issues were Ghail, KPCL, Jute
Spinning, Fine Foods and SIM Textile.

KPCL topped the turnover leaders followed by Brac Bank, UPGDCL, Shepherd
and SKTRIMS.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward
trend with its major CASPI 104.85 points up at 16,242.47.

At the CSE, 241 issues were traded. Of those, 116 closed higher and 97
closed lower when 97.88 lakh shares worth Taka 27.09 crore changed hands.
