Rangpur Income Tax Zone collects Tk. 23.87 crore

RANGPUR, Nov 20, 2018 (BSS) – Rangpur Income Tax Zone collected Taka 23.87
crore income taxes as revenue from 12 income tax fairs those concluded last
night in the city and six district and five upazila headquarters of Rangpur
division.

In Rangpur divisional city, Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office
organised the weeklong Income Tax Fair-2018 at Zila Parishad Community Centre
from November 13 to 19 last.

The four-day district level income tax fairs were arranged at Dinajpur,
Kurigram, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh district
headquarters.

Besides, the two-day income tax fairs were held at Badarganj (Rangpur),
Phulbari (Dinajpur), Bochaganj (Dinajpur), Syedpur (Nilphamari), Pirganj
(Thakurgaon) and Mithapukur (Rangpur) upazila towns in Rangpur Income Tax
Zone.

After conclusion of the income tax fairs on Monday night, Commissioner of
Taxes for Rangpur Zone Md Fazlur Rahman informed BSS that Taka 23 crore 87
lakh 55 thousand and 849 has been collected as income taxes from these fairs
this time.

“In these fairs, 57,883 taxpayers took various services from income tax
officials and 1,049 new taxpayers registered electronic taxpayer
identification number (eTIN) this time,” he said.

Besides, 19,232 taxpayers deposited income tax return forms and income
taxes amounting to Taka 23.87 crore this year at these fairs in the zone.

Rahman expressed satisfaction over the increasing number of taxpayers who
visited the fairs, took various services and spontaneously deposited their
income taxes in a hassle-free manner.

“The income tax fairs played vital role in creating awareness among
eligible citizens erasing fear about income taxes from their minds inspiring
them in spontaneous payment of income tax in a friendly atmosphere,” he said.

Rahman tanked taxpayers for paying income taxes availing various
facilities being provided by the NBR to strengthen national economy and
eradicate dependence on foreign loans for conducting developments.

He expressed confidence of achieving the fixed target of collecting Taka
753 crore income taxes for the current 2018-2019 fiscal in the zone as a
result of increasing awareness among taxpayers.
