RCC conserves cultural, archaeological heritages

RAJSHAHI, Dec 28, 2017 (BSS)- Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has started preserving and conserving the existing social, cultural and archaeological heritages aims at familiarizing the new generation with those.

To this end, the city corporation is implementing a project titled ‘Sustainable Development of the city through conservation and development of social, cultural, environmental and archeological infrastructures’.

The project is being implemented with an estimated cost of around Tk 21.96 crore with financial support from Indian Government.

RCC Mayor Mosaddique Hossain Bulbul revealed this while inaugurating construction works of Padma Public Library building at Talaimary in the city yesterday.

Assistant Indian High Commissioner Avijit Chattapadhya, RCC Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque, President of the library Abul Hossain and its general secretary Saidur Rahman were present on the occasion.

Mayor Bulbul said the existing century-old temples and other archeological sites are being developed through necessary renovation under the project.

He termed the Bangladesh-India relations as cordial and long-lasting saying there are more opportunities of improving the region after the best uses of the relation.

Bulbul urged the Indian side to invest here for mutual benefit. “We have to come forward and work together for development of the region and boosting regional communications for economic prosperity”, he added.

Avijit Chottopadhya expressed his optimism that the RCC, which is entrusted with the task of implementing the project, will complete the work as early as possible.
