RANGPUR, Nov 18, 2018 (BSS) – Some 12,795 taxpayers have deposited Taka 10.67 crore income taxes in only six days till Sunday noon at seven income tax fairs being held at different places in Rangpur Income Tax Zone.
“During the period, 39,642 citizens received services and suggestions from income tax officials and 535 new taxpayers registered their e-TIN numbers at these fairs,” Tax Commissioner of Rangpur Zone Md Fazlur Rahman said today.
Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office has been organising the week-long divisional level fair at Zila Parishad Community Centre in the city since November 13 last.
Besides, four-day district level six income tax fairs are being held at Dinajpur, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh since November 14.
In addition, two-day income tax fairs were inaugurated today at five upazila headquarters in Rangpur Income Tax Zone which will conclude tomorrow.
Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Limited (BCMCL), a subsidiary company of Petrobangla, today paid Taka five crore income tax at the Income Tax Fair-2018 here this afternoon.
On behalf of BCMCL, its Income Tax Adviser Advocate Md Abu Ishaque handed over a pay order for Taka five crore to Tax Commissioner Md Fazlur Rahman.
“The amount of income tax collection would rise further as payment of the same will continue till tomorrow (Monday) as increasing number of taxpayers are thronging the income tax fairs,” Rahman added.
The income tax officials are providing various services to the taxpayers on income tax and assisting them in calculating income taxes and filling out income tax return forms to pay income taxes easily in these fairs.
“I am confident of achieving the fixed target of collecting Taka 753 crore income taxes for the current 2018-2019 fiscal in the zone,” Rahman said, adding that the zone realised Taka 640 crore as income taxes during the last fiscal.
Talking to BSS on the fair premises here today, taxpayers Md Moniruzzaman and Mesbahul Islam expressed happiness over paying income taxes easily after getting necessary assistance from income tax officials.
