RANGPUR, Nov 18, 2018 (BSS) – Three passengers of an auto-rickshaw,
including two siblings, were killed in a road accident at Lahirirhat
Shahbazpur point on the Rangpur-Badarganj road under Sadar upazila here
today, police said.
“The accident occurred when a Badarganj-bound truck from Rangpur hit the
battery-run auto rickshaw from opposite direction there at about 10 am
killing three passengers and injuring three others,” Additional
Superintendent of Police (A Circle) Saifur Rahman told BSS.
Both of the ill-fated truck and battery-run auto rickshaw fell down into
the water of a roadside ditch after the accident.
“Police force from Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Thana and personnel from Rangpur
Fire Service and Civil Defense Station immediately rushed there, rescued the
injured persons and sent them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH),”
Saif added.
Two of the deceased persons were identified as siblings Mossarraf Hossain,
65, and Badsha Mian, 45, sons of late Yusuf Ali of village Boirampur
Kabirazpara under nearby Badarganj upazila of Rangpur.
However, identity of another deceased male person could not be known
immediately. “A case was filed with Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Thana in this
connection,” Officer-in-Charge of Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Thana Sajedul Islam
said.
