One dies, 6 injured in fire caused by gas line leakage
DHAKA, Nov 16, 2018 (BSS) – A child was killed and six others were
injured in a fire caused by gas line leakage in capital’s Dhalpur area under
Jatrabari police station this morning.
The deceased Tahsin, 7, and the injured are Sumon, 40, his wife Sajuli,
35, their son Nishan, 14, Sumon’s aunty Atar Begum, 70, another tenant
Alamgir, 30 and his wife Kajuli, 24.
The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) burn
unit.
Jatrabari police station officer in-chage Qazi Wazed Ali confirmed the
news to BSS.
“A blast caused by gas leakage occurred at Alamgir’s flat at around
8.30am. A side wall blew away instantly by the magnitude of the blast.
Tahsin, daughter of another tenant Saidul Islam fell under the debris and
died. Six others, including four from a same family got injured. Of the
injured, condition of two is critical,” Inspector (operation) Ayan Mahmud
Dwip of Jatrabari Police Station told BSS.
Of the injured, condition of Nishan and Atar Begum is serious, with 50
and 75 percents of burn respectively.
