CC cameras to ensure safe city: RpMP Commissioner

RANGPUR, Nov 14, 2018 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud today said establishing of closed circuit (CC) cameras and use of modern technologies would ease the process of building a safe Rangpur city.

“Investigation of cases will get momentum using captured video footages by CC cameras with help of the latest technologies to indentify and bring culprits into book, reduce crimes and improve traffic managements in the metropolitan city,” Alim said.

The Metropolitan Police Chief said this while inaugurating the CC camera control room with modern technological facilities jointly with Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa at RpMP office in the city.

“Our police personnel will monitor CC cameras round the clock at the control room of RpMP and take immediate actions to indentify criminals and prevent crimes in Rangpur metropolitan city,” Alim said.

On the occasion, Mayor Mostafa said Rangpur City Corporation under initiative of RpMP has set up CC cameras at 32 points in 15 old wards of the city with a view to ensure safety of the citizens and keep the city clean and free from crimes.

“We are working to set up of more 68 CC cameras in all 33 wards of the city in phases with assistance of RpMP and other government departments concerned within the next five months to deliver desired services of the citizens,” he said.

“The CC cameras will help a lot in indentifying the criminals involved with different types of crimes like robbery, mugging, theft and drug trading to bring them under the law on way to build a crime free Rangpur city,” Mostafa added.

Additional Police Commissioner of RpMP Mohammad Abu Sufian, its Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) Mohidul Islam, Deputy Police Commissioner (Crimes) Kazi Muttaki Ibne Minan, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) Abdullah-Al-Farooq, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Crimes) Shahidullah Kawser, Assistant Police Commissioner (Staff Officer) AKM Ahidunnabi, Assistant Police Commissioner (DB) Altab Hossain, Assistant Police Commissioner (Traffic) Farhad Imrul Kayes, Assistant Police Commissioner (Kotwali Zone) Jamir Uddin, City Panel Mayor Mahmudur Rahman Titu, City Councilor Sekendar Ali, among others, were present.
