DHAKA, Nov 14, 2018 (BSS)- Stand-in captain Mahmudullah Riyad scored his second Test century after eight years during Bangladesh’s second innings in the second and final Test against visiting Zimbabwe on Wednesday.

The classy Bangladesh batsman had been finding it difficult to show his capabilities in the longer version of the game and today he came to his team’s rescue after Bangladesh were struggling at 25 for 4.

Mahmudullah composed a magnificent 101 off 122-ball, laced with four fours and two sixes after Bangladesh declared their second innings as the skipper completed his ton, as Tea was called on Day 4.

In the process of making his century, Mahmudullah pairing with Mohammad Mithun repaired Bangladesh’s innings from a wobbly 25 for 4 with a 118-run fifth wicket stand.

Mahmudullah hit out to reach his hundred with the final ball before tea and took the score to 224 for 6, a lead of 442.

In his last 10 Test innings Mahmudullah missed the opportunity to make a fifty, however, today he finally reached the mark from 70 deliveries.

The Tigers’ captain scored his maiden Test hundred against New Zealand in Hamilton back in 2010.
