JAMALPUR, Nov 13, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Agriculture Development
Corporation (BADC) has allotted 1,335 tonnes of Boro seed in Jamalpur and
Sherpur district for current Robi season.
Seed Marketing, a wing of BADC said the quality seed will be sold among
the farmers through its 196 registered dealers. Farmers also can buy seed
directly from its sale centers, the office added.
According to Jamalpur Seed Marketing Office sources, 796 tonnes of Boro
seed was allotted for Jamalpur district while 539 tonnes seed for Sherpur
district.
The office said 8 varieties of Boro seed will be sold among the farmers.
The seeds are BR-26, BRRI-28, BRRI-29, BRRI-58, BINA-14, Banglazira, Super
High Breed and win-302.
The office said 186 tonnes BR-26, 590 tonnes BRRI-28, 478 tonnes BRRI-
29, 18 tonnes BRRI-58, 1 tonnes BINA-14, 1.27 tonnes Banglazira, 59.724
tonnes Super High Breed and 1 tonnes win-302 seeds are allotted.
However, Department of Agriculture Extension has fixed a target to
cultivate Boro on 128,949 hectares of land in the district this year.
