Concerted efforts of all to achieve SDGs stressed

DHAKA, Nov 10, 2018 (BSS) – Experts at a seminar here today laid emphasis on concerted efforts of all to achieve the targets of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Both government and non-government actors should work together in a planned way to replicate the successes like fulfilling the targets of Millennium Development Goals (MDG), they told the seminar titled “Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) at the Institution of Engineers of Bangladesh (IEB) here.

Bangladesh Economics Association (BEA) organized the seminar with its chairman Prof Dr Abul Barkat in the chair.

Former Chief Justice M Tofazzal Islam addressed the seminar as the chief guest while Chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Qazi Kholoquzzaman Ahmad presented the keynote paper.

BEA General Secretary Dr Jamaluddin Ahmed, teachers, economists and officials of different organization concerned, among others, attended the seminar.

In his keynote presentation, Dr Kholoquzzaman said all should be included in the process of achieving SDGs as access of all is prerequisite to fulfilling the targets. The main philosophy of SDG is to establish an equity-based society through ensuring human dignity.

“We have to achieve the targets of SDG utilizing own resource as we will get financial supports of any donor agencies. So, we have to move forward to implement SDG targets by 2030,” he added.

Tofazzal said, “One of main components of SDG-4 is to ensure quality of education….. If we will be successful for ensuring standard of education, we will be able to change the world.”
