RAJSHAHI, Nov 9, 2018 (BSS)-Speakers at a discussion here opined that
collective efforts of all quarters have become an urgent need to combat
illicit smuggling of drugs along with its trading and abusing to protect
people and the young generation in particular.

They said 80 per cent of the drug addicts belong to the age group of 15 to
30 in the country. So, there is no alternative to adopt measures of anti-
smuggling of drugs.

Habibur Rahman in the chair.

out dope test of those who will enter into public jobs. He also said time has
come to doing dope test during the time of admitting in college and

suicide are the major consequences of abusing of drugs like heroin,
phensidyl, ganja, pathedrine and tranquilizers. He said the law enforcement
agencies alone isn’t capable to combat the social disease but community
participation coupled with family and social contribution is very important
to this end.

He said forging social resistance has become indispensable to uproot the
crime as it’s being adjudged as a grave concern in society.

Liton called for arranging trilateral meeting with the neighbouring
countries so that India and Myanmar don’t send drugs to Bangladesh as our
country isn’t producer of drugs but being used as consumer as a whole.

He said drugs- free society must be built at any cost to protect people
particularly the young generation from deadly aggression of the drugs.

He urged the community people to extend their wholehearted cooperation
towards law enforcement agencies with authentic information about the drugs
traders and traffickers so that they could be brought to book.
