CHATTOGRAM, Nov 8, 2018 (BSS)- Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed today called upon the members of 40 East Bengal Regiment (Mechanized) of Bangladesh Army to play a strong role with professionalism and efficiency in protecting national security and integrity.
General Aziz gave the call while formally handing over national flag to the battalion commander of the 40 East Bengal Regiment (Mechanized) for being the best or all-rounder unit on overall consideration at Chattogram Cantonment today.
The 40 East Bengal Regiment (Mechanized) was recognized best battalion by their efficient work by various units of the Battalion of the Regiment, for their hard exercise, sincerity, dutifulness and significant contribution towards national development as well as in international arena during war and peace.
The army chief also urged the members of the regiment to be always ready to make highest sacrifice in protecting the dignity of the National Flag they were awarded in recognition of their efficiency, hard exercise and dutifulness.
He termed attaining the National Flag as a matter of dignity and glory for any unit in any Force, saying that it is the symbol of National Independence and Sovereignty.
General Aziz said the Armed Forces are brightening the image not only in the country but also in the international arena by performing their duties with efficiency and sincerity.
He said that the members of the Armed Forces have taken Bangladesh into a respected position in global arena through efficient discharge of their duties in the UN Peacekeeping Missions.
On his arrival at the parade ground, General Aziz was received by GOC Lieutenant General Nazim Uddin, Area Commander of Chattogram Major General SM Motiur Rahman and Papa Tiger East Bengal Regimental center Brigadier General Mohammad Habibul Karim.
General Aziz inspected the parade riding an open jeep and then took salute from the parade.
Former Army Chiefs Lieutenant General M Harun-Ar-Rashid and General Md Abdul Mubeen and members of the high civil and military officials were present.
Later in the afternoon, the Army Chief inaugurated the tiger museum at East Bengal regiment center and joined the graduation ceremony of Officers Granary Staff Course (Air Defense)-9, and distributed the G+ certificates to the 17 graduates including five foreigners at Chattogram Artillery center and school auditorium.
