DHAKA, December 24, 2017 (BSS) – State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki yesterday said members of Fire Service and Civil Defense are working in people’s service risking their lives.
“Firefighting is a challenging and courageous profession… They (firefighters) are performing their duties showing maximum courage to save lives and properties of the people,” she told a function at the Mascot Plaza at Uttara in the city.
Senior officials of the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense, businessmen and people from different professions were present at the function.
Chumki urged members of Fire Service and Civil Defense to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity to protect people during any disaster, including incidents of fire.
She laid emphasis on modernizing the Department of Fire and Service and Civil Defense by inducting the latest and sophisticated equipments to minimize losses of lives and properties.
