Liton urges to implement liberation war spirit

RAJSHAHI, Nov 6, 2018 (BSS)- Rajshahi City mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton
here stressed on collective efforts of all patriotic forces to implement the
spirit of the Liberation War for paying rich tribute to the great sons of the
soil.

He said the present government under the dynamic and farsighted
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for
achieving the consciousness of liberation war. So, all the people should
extend their whole-hearted cooperation to supplement the government
endeavors.

He was addressing the inaugural meeting of a month-long ‘Liberation War
History Practice’ at Rajshahi College auditorium in Rajshahi city on Monday.

‘Unnayaner Abhijatrai Rajshahi (UAR)’ organized the meeting in memory of
Bangabandhu and Four National Leaders to mark the historic Jail Killing Day.
‘Muktijuddher Golpo Path’ was the main slogan of the meeting.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the
meeting as chief guest with UAR President Dr Anika Fariha Jaman in the chair.

Principal of Rajshahi College Prof Habibur Rahman, Proctor of Rajshahi
University Prof Lutfor Rahman and valiant freedom fighters Shahjahan Ali
Barjahan, Rabiul Islam and Abul Hassan Khandaker also spoke.

Mayor Liton termed the jail killing as one of the shameful chapters in
nation’s history and said “Conspirators wanted to stamp out the pro-
liberation forces from the country by brutally killing four national leaders
inside jail”.

Liton said four leaders were brutally killed inside the Dhaka central
Jail after assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman to eliminate the spirit of liberation war.

He also said that the names of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the
four national leaders could never be wiped out as those names will remain
alive in the people’s mind.

Liton urged all to work unified way to elect ‘boat’ the election symbol
of Bangladesh Awami League in the next general election.
