Skill enhancement of community health workers underscored

RANGPUR, Nov 5, 2018 (BSS) – Experts at a training course have stressed on
enhancing skills of field level health workers, Community Health Care
Providers (CHCPs) and Community Skilled Birth Attendants (CSBAs) to provide
better health services to rural people.

They came up with the opinion at the skill enhancement training course held
on Sunday afternoon at conference room of Fulbari Upazila Health Complex in
Fulbari upazila town of Dinajpur.

The upazila health administration jointly with ‘Shomoshti’ project of CARE
Bangladesh funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)
organised the event for field level health workers, health and family
planning assistants, CHCPs and CSBAs.

Civil Surgeon of Dinajpur Dr Abdul Kudus attended the event as the chief
guest with Social Adviser of the ‘Shomoshti’ project of CARE Bangladesh
Saifuddin Ahmed in the chair.

Rangpur Regional Project Manager of the ‘Shomoshti’ project of CARE
Bangladesh Shafikul Islam discussed goals, objectives and working strategies
of the project.

Fulbari Upazila Family Planning Officer Esmail Hossain and Upazila Health
and Family Planning Officer Dr Nurul Islam delivered presentations as
resource persons.

The resource persons narrated importance of enhancing skill of field level
health workers in reaching quality health services to the rural people to
ensure health services for all in building a healthier nation.

They put emphasis on improving managements in community clinics and union
health sub-centres to provide better health services to the people and ensure
hygienic sanitation, pure drinking water, safe pregnancy, safe delivery and
maternity services.

Dr Nurul Islam stressed on strengthening capacity of the community clinic
managing committees (CCMCs), health and family planning assistants, CHCPs and
CSBAs working at community clinics and union health sub-centres.

The chief guest discussed the epoch-making community clinic approach,
responsibility of the CCMCs, CHCPs and CSBAs, health and family planning
assistants involved with providing health services to the common people.

“The CCMCs, CHCPs, CSBAs and all concerned should work sincerely to ensure
quality health, medicare, family planning, safe delivery and hygiene,
sanitation and nutrition services to the rural people for attaining the
sustainable development goals by 2030.
