Japanese embassy honours Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury
DHAKA, Nov 4, 2018 (BSS) – Japanese embassy in Bangladesh honoured National
Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury with conferral of “The Order of the
Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon”.
The conferral is in recognition of his great contribution to smooth
implementation of Japan’s ODA and promotion of friendly relations and mutual
understanding between Japan and Bangladesh for over 30 years, said a press
release from Japanese embassy today.
The Embassy stated that Dr. Choudhury has supported many Japanese
development projects from civil engineering point of view, such as “Jamuna
Multipurpose Bridge Project”, “Chittagong Airport Development Project” and
“Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project”.
Meanwhile, Ritsuko Abedin, former employee at the embassy, received “The
Order of the Sacred Treasure, Silver Rays” for her longstanding and dedicated
contribution to the embassy since November 1972 until her retirement in June
1998.
Abedin, who can speak fluently in Bengali, had lived in Bangladesh over 50
years.
She has played a significant role in introducing culture and heritage of
Bangladesh to the people of Japan.
