Justice Sikandar Ali scholarship to be given tomorrow
DHAKA, Nov 4, 2018 (BSS) – “Justice Sikandar Ali Memorial Scholarship” will
be handed over to some meritorious students of Department of Law of Dhaka
University (DU) tomorrow.
The scholarship giving ceremony will be held at the conference room of
Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on campus in the morning.
Speaker of the National Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chadhury MP will
address the function as the chief guest while Anisul Huq MP, Minister for
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, will be present as the key speaker.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman will inaugurate the
programme while Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah
will be present as special guest.
DU Treasurer and also the chairman of trustee board of “Justice Sikandar
Ali Trust Fund” Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin will preside over the function.
The trust fund was set up at the Department of Law of Dhaka University on
December 04, 2016.
Out of the income of this donation, every year some meritorious students of
the Department of Law of DU will be awarded “Justice Sikandar Ali Trust Fund
scholarship”.
Late Justice Sikandar Ali was born on January 1, 1907 in Barlekha, Sylhet
and died on December 31, 1966.
