RANGPUR, Nov 4, 2018 (BSS) – Grassroots level pubic representatives at a
function have called for ensuring institution-based hygienic sanitation, pure
drinking water, better health practice and clean environment to build a
healthier nation.
“The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has achieved
laudable success in ensuring hygienic sanitation and pure drinking water for
the common people,” said Chairman of Sadar upazila parisahd Nasima Zaman
Boby.
She said this at the function after inaugurating construction of a Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Block on Dakshin Ajoddhapur Darul Ulum Nurani
Hafezia Madrasha and Lillah Boarding premises in Sadar upazila on Saturday
afternoon as the chief guest.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ishraat Sadiya Sumi attended the
function as the special guest with Chairman of local Saddyapuskorini union
parishad Md Masud Rana in the chair.
The Sadar upazila parishad is implementing construction works of the WASH
Block at a cost of Taka 4.60 lakh under supervision of Rangpur Sadar Office
of Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED).
The Upazila Governance and Development Project of the Local Government
Division and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are financing
implementation of construction of the WASH Block.
The WASH Block is being constructed to ensure pure drinking water, hygienic
toilets, and better health practices and sewerage systems for the students of
the educational institution.
UNO Ishraat Sadiya Sumi stressed on timely completion of the WASH Block
using quality construction materials and ensuring complete transparency and
accountability.
The chief guest urged authority of the institution for disseminating
knowledge among their students and local rural people to ensure hygienic
sanitation, pure drinking water and better health practices for all.
