Experts for producing skilled workforce to accelerate progress

RANGPUR, Nov 04, 2018 (BSS)-Experts at a discussion here have laid
emphasis on producing skilled workforce through imparting technical and
vocational education to the young generations to further accelerate national
progress.

The experts stressed the need for a skilled work force while addressing
the discussion arranged on the occasion of ‘Skills Competition-2018’.

Rangpur Polytechnic Institute (RPI) organized the event under the ‘Skills
and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) on its campus in the city on
Saturday.

Students of different polytechnic and vocational training and educational
institutions of the city set up 17 stalls displaying their various technical,
vocational and engineering technologies, projects and innovations.

Project Director (Additional Secretary) of the STEP Project of the
Directorate of Technical Education under the Ministry of Education B M Azad
attended the discussion as the chief guest.

With principal of RPI Engineer Md Khalid Hossain in the chair, Deputy
Director (Local Government) for Rangpur Ruhul Amin Mian and director of FBCCI
Mosaddek Hossain Bablu addressed the discussion as special guests.

Principals, headmasters and heads of different departments of the
participating vocational and technical educational institutions of the city,
students, guardians, civil society members and local elite were present.

Engineer Khalid Hossain said the present government has put maximum
important on popularising technical and vocational education to produce more
skilled workforce like engineers, planners and architects on way to build a
developed Bangladesh.

Narrating importance of the ICT-based and science, technical and vocational
education, the chief guest called for ensuring a time- befitting and need-
based education to turn the huge population into human resources to
accelerate national advancement.
