RAJSHAHI, Nov 4, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar
Alam said saboteurs killed four national leaders to eliminate pro-liberation
forces from the country, terming the jail killing as one of the shameful
chapters in nation’s history.

“Conspirators wanted to stamp out the pro-liberation forces from the
country by brutally killing our four national leaders inside jail”, he added.

The state minister was addressing a discussion organised by Chatghat
upazila Awami League (AL) on jail killing day at upazila crossings in the
district on Saturday as the chief guest.

With President of Zayeda Jalil High School Managing Committee Anwarul Islam
in the chair, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazmul Haque, Union Parishad Chairman
Mustaque Ahmed and local Awami League leaders Fakhrul Islam and Shafiul Alam
also spoke.

Alam said the four national leaders were brutally killed inside the Dhaka
central Jail after assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman to eliminate the spirit of liberation war.

“This bloodshed created anarchy, destabilized politics and impeded economic
progress of the country,” he said.

He also said that the names of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the
four national leaders could never be wiped out as those names will remain
alive in the people’s mind as long as Bangladesh will exist.

Later, the state minister accompanied by AL leaders and workers went to the
mazar of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman, one of the four national leaders, in
city’s Kadirgonj family graveyard.

He placed wreaths at his grave and offered special prayers for salvation
of the departed soul.
