Milad mahfil at health minister’s residence on jail killing day

DHAKA, Nov 3, 2018 (BSS) – On the occasion of the Jail Killing Day, a milad and doa mahfil was held after Maghrib prayers today seeking eternal peace of departed souls of four national leaders– Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, AHM Quamruzzaman and Captain M Mansur Ali.

Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Members Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed and Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, AL Organizing Secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Dhaka City South Awami League General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, Bangladesh Medical Association President Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and Banani Thana AL General Secretary Meer Mosharraf Hossain attended the milad mahfil, among others.

Before the milad mahfil held at the residence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim, son of Captain M Mansur Ali, the AL leaders delivered speeches recalling the contributions of the four national leaders to the country.

When Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh, was detained by the Pakistani junta, the four national leaders — Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, AHM Quamruzzaman and Captain M Mansur Ali — led the country’s independence war.

They (four national leaders) were sent to jail after the gruesome killing of Father of the Nation along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975.

The ambitious but comparatively junior and mid-level military officials with the blessings of the then self-proclaimed president Khondoker Mushtaq Ahmed, the most hated betrayer member of the Bangabandhu’s cabinet, killed the four national leaders in cells of the Dhaka Central Jail on November 3, 1975.
