Division, district towns to be brought under rail-network: Mujibul
CHITTAGONG, Nov 3, 2018 (BSS) – Railways Minister Mujibul Haque today said all divisional and district towns would be brought under rail network if the Awami League comes to power again.
“Bullet train, subway and electric trains would be introduced in all divisional and district towns if the AL comes to power again,” he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest while inaugurating a new passenger train for Chittagong-Dohajari rail route at Patia rail station.
The first bullet train would be introduced on Dhaka-Chittagong route, he said.
“BNP-Jamat government had destroyed the railway sector but the Awami League led government imported 46 upgraded rail engines and around 200 modern rail coaches…now the railway sector has become a profitable mode of transport,” he said.
Patia Passenger Welfare Parishad President and South district AL senior Vice-President Motaherul Islam Chowdhury presided over the programme while secretary of the ministry Mofazzal Hossain, Director General of Rail Directorate Kazi Rafiqul Huq, Chattagram South district AL president Moslem Uddin Ahmed were present, among others.
