NU improves quality higher education: VC

RAJSHAHI, Nov 1, 2018 (BSS) – Vice-chancellor of National University
(NU) Prof Harun-Ar-Rashid said NU has put maximum efforts towards quality
improvement in higher education for boosting the sector with skilled human
resources.

To this end, preference was given on formulation of standard course-
curriculum, bringing all the colleges under internet network and massive
teachers training.

“We have brought the NU academic activities into normal stage through
adopting a crash programme against the previous alarming situation of
session-jam,” he said while addressing a daylong workshop here Wednesday as
chief guest.

Rajshahi College (RC) organized the workshop titled “Student-Centered
Learning” to achieve the goal of 21st century Education” at its auditorium.

Chaired by RC Principal Prof Habibur Rahman, the workshop was addressed,
among others, by Vice-principal Prof Al Faruque Chowdhury and teachers Prof
Pijush Kanti Fouzder, Prof Dr Wahim Mejbaul Haque, Dr Khandaker Mujahidul
Haque, Dr Abdur Rahman, Dr Fahmida Akter Kustary and Nusrat Jahan.

Prof Harun termed education as service not business and urged the
teachers to provide quality education to make the students competent for
global employment market.

He also highlighted the need for conducting inclusive researches on
various fields of knowledge to ensure quality of the higher educational
institutions in the country.

The chief guest said that national qualification framework is highly
needed for ensuring quality education at tertiary level to compete with
others in national and international arena in today’s competitive world.

He added this is the right time to develop a harmonized qualification
system that will benefit both employers and job seekers.

He said uniform and harmonised framework can ensure the standard and
quality in the country’s existing multi-pronged education system.
