President seeks more UAE investment

DHAKA, Dec 21, 2017 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today invited the government and entrepreneurs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest more in Bangladesh, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, power and energy, tourism and hospitability.

The President sought the enhanced UAE investment as outgoing UAE Ambassador Dr Saeed Bin Hajar Al-Shehi called on him at Bangabhaban here.

“The President, during the meeting, also urged the UAE to import more skilled and semi-skilled manpower from Bangladesh,” his Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told BSS.

President Hamid, he said, called on the UAE authorities to conclude a Visa Exemption (for diplomatic and official passport holders) Agreement between the two countries to ease movement of people.

Referring to the Dubai Expo-2020, the President said, “Bangladesh is ready to extend all possible cooperation to the UAE government in the process of preparation for holding this mega global event.”

Congratulating the outgoing envoy for the successful completion of his tenure here, Abdul Hamid mentioned that his pro-active role to take the bilateral relations between the two countries to a new height.

He said the existing excellent bilateral ties between Bangladesh and UAE could be a key basis of manpower development.

The President hoped that the envoy would continue to play his role as a goodwill ambassador for Bangladesh wherever he stays in the future.

The UAE envoy expressed his gratitude to the President for extending cooperation to him in carrying out his assignments in Dhaka in last four years.

He hoped that the relations between the two countries would be further consolidated in the days to come.
